Unreal Flight Sim Content
An example interactive flight simulator developed using FLAMES and Unreal Engine.
Description
The Unreal Flight Sim Content includes an Unreal Engine game, a FLAMES component plugin, multiple scenarios, and documentation. This content provides a simple yet extremely capable example of an interactive fixed-wing aircraft flight simulator developed using FLAMES and Unreal Engine fully integrated with a FLAMES-based computer generated forces (CGF) simulation. Installing and examining this content is a great way to advance your understanding of the FLAMES Unreal Engine option.
After you have installed this content, see the topic titled "FlightSim Game Overview" in the "Unreal Example Content Documentation" in your Launcher Project for a description of the content and instructions on how to execute the included scenarios.
What's Included:
A flight simulator game client application developed using Unreal Engine and FLAMES. The simulator can be flown with a keyboard or with certain Thrustmaster USB stick and throttle controls. The pilot view can be displayed on a monitor or in Varjo (and other) VR goggles.
An Unreal Engine game library that executes in FLAMES and acts as the server for one or more flight simulator clients.
Multiple scenarios that allow a pilot to interact with computer generated air and ground entities.
A FLAMES plugin containing multiple models used by the flight simulator and the FLAMES-based CGF.
Documentation on the flight simulator, the models in the plugin, and the example scenarios.
What Else Must be Installed:
The Trial or unrestricted version of the FLAMES Engine.
The
FLAMES Starter Content.
(Unreal Engine does not need to be installed to use this content. However, your computer must meet the requirements for executing Unreal Engine games.)
The Unreal Editor project in source form for the flight simulator included in this content is available in the Unreal Flight Sim Game Project. Information on how to get the source code for the classes contained in the FLAMES component plugin is available in the
